Introduction

Hi!  I'm Spencer, the Tuxedo cat who looks a lot like the First Cat (but I have very pretty aqua colored eyes)!  I came to live with my parents by accident!  My mom and a friend were at a mall where an adoption show was being held.  The show was run by the Prince George's County SPCA (PGSPCA), the same PGSPCA where mom and dad found my brother, Hoey!  Mom and her friend stopped in just to visit and look at the cats, but mom fell in love with me -- not because I used Hoey's tips and tricks (I didn't know about them at the time), but because she felt sorry for me!
My Previous Life
You see, I was very skittish around people.  I was rescued from a cat colony in a local junkyard.  So at the adoption show, I was absolutely pitiful looking.  I cowered in the temporary litter box, literally shivering, the entire show.  Mom felt so sorry for me and didn't want to leave me there, even though I was so difficult when I first came home with her!  Like my older sister, Puddy, who I never met, I hid from mom and dad for a while before I was comfortable enough to be petted and doted on!  Now I love it!
My Habits
Although I don't speak English very well, I do try to have conversations with my mom and dad.  I  greet them politely always with a long, drawn out meow that sounds nothing like a regular meow.  I very much want to try and communicate with my parents and tell them how much I love them.  Mom and dad seem to understand me better now than in the beginning.  They smile whenever I try to say "Hello!" and I think they know what I am saying.  I have heard them say that they think I am the smartest of all 4 of us!  I once just "knew" they were going to take me to the vet, and let them chase me for almost 15 minutes because I didn't feel like getting my annual shots!  They finally outfoxed me, but I DID make us late for our appointment!
My Best Friends
Hoey is my very best friend, as well as brother!  He and I think we are the closest in age, so I guess that is to be expected.  We like to groom each other and hang around together.  Sometimes we play-fight with each other, and mom says we sound like "a herd of elephants" going up and down the stairs.  I am lots stronger than Hoey (all muscle here!), so he gets mad at me sometimes after awhile because he hates to lose!  Sassy's a good pal too, but I don't know what to make of him; he's so immature sometimes!
On Fame . . .
Hoey and I have both modeled for national cat calendars.  Hoey first did so in 1995, and a picture of both of us appeared in 1999's calendar!  I love my 2 minutes of fame; mom even got a call from a client who had seen us in the calendar!  It's a small world . . .
